Clean the pet feeding station beyond the bowl

Treat the food bowl, water bowl, feeding mat and floor as separate surfaces. Have the pet owner manage food and temporary access, then clean each part according to its instructions. Let the mat and floor dry before rebuilding the station, and return fresh water through the household’s normal pet-care routine.

That’s the whole rule. If you’d rather not be the one auditing bottles — we bring our own, eco-friendly by default, and we follow whatever note you leave on your booking. Message us and we’ll send a price for your place.

Coordinate the timing with the pet owner

Do not remove a feeding setup without arranging how the animal’s needs will be met. The owner should handle leftover food, dietary decisions and any automatic feeder settings. Photograph only the physical placement if useful. Keep the animal out of the active cleaning area and arrange a familiar alternative with its owner rather than improvising a new feeding location.

Wash bowls and clean the supporting surfaces

CDC recommends cleaning wet-food bowls after each use and dry-food and water bowls daily. It advises following item instructions and using a dishwasher only for dishwasher-safe items. Check the underside of the mat and the floor beneath it separately; washing bowls does not remove residue from those layers. Keep any electrical feeder outside a wet-cleaning method unless its instructions expressly permit the relevant removable part.

Return a dry, familiar arrangement

Follow product directions for rinsing and drying before returning any item to the pet. Rebuild the station after checking that no moisture remains beneath the mat and no cleaner is left within reach. If bowls or the mat are damaged and cannot be cleaned normally, have the owner assess replacement. Persistent animal illness or unusual drinking behavior belongs with a veterinarian, not with a different floor product.

Published scope and the limits of this guide

The published JAS scope says: “Surface-level upkeep for homes in generally good condition. Kitchen, baths, dust, beds, vacuum, and mop.” — Read the source service page

This covers ordinary station care. It excludes feeding decisions, veterinary advice, automatic-feeder repair and any promise that pet-item washing is included in residential service.

Frequently asked questions

Is the mat cleaned with the bowl product?

Only if both instructions allow it. Identify each material separately.

Can I change an automatic feeder schedule?

Leave feeding settings with the owner. They are not a surface-cleaning decision.

Should disinfectants be left within reach while drying?

No. Follow the label and keep the pet away from products and the active work area.
