Separate rental supplies from private owner storage

Give turnover staff access to a clearly defined supply area, with guest-use stock separated from private owner belongings. Identify the permitted shelves, approved substitutions, and the host contact for missing items. If a locked closet cannot be opened, treat that as an access problem instead of permission to search elsewhere.

That’s the turnover in one piece. If you’d rather the calendar took care of itself between guests, tell us the unit and your checkout window and we’ll send a price per turnover.

Draw a visible boundary within storage

If one closet holds both guest supplies and personal belongings, divide it in a way that is easy to describe and recognize. Name the shelves available for turnover use and keep private boxes outside that area. A photograph of the supply section can clarify the arrangement without showing private contents. Avoid instructions such as use whatever is in the closet, because a provider cannot infer which towels, packaged goods, or household items were reserved for owner visits. Identify only the stock you intend to make available. When you reorganize storage, replace the reference image and notify the provider before the next visit so yesterday's permission does not silently point to a different shelf.

Approve substitutions before a shortage

List which guest supplies can be substituted and which require host approval. Similar packaging does not necessarily mean two products serve the same purpose or match what you intend to offer. For linens, identify permitted sizes and locations instead of asking someone to assemble a set from personal bedding. For consumables, keep the product identity and guest placement instruction together. Do not ask staff to transfer unknown liquids into unmarked containers to make a shelf look complete. If no approved substitute is available, request a precise shortage report. The host can then arrange replenishment or revise the arrival plan without turning the provider into an unapproved shopper or product decision-maker.

Treat a locked-out closet as an exception

Include the supply-area access method in the property instructions and test it through your own authorized process. Keep the contact for a failed key or code separate from the instruction for guest entry. If access fails, have the provider report what stock is already available and what cannot be reached. Do not encourage entry into private drawers, another unit, or an owner's vehicle to find replacements. Record the unavailable supplies in the completion notes so an otherwise tidy room is not reported as fully stocked. After resolving access, update the instructions and remove obsolete codes from the active sheet. The useful outcome is an understandable boundary that survives staff changes and storage reorganizations.

Published scope and the limits of this guide

The published JAS scope says: “Strip & replace all linens” — Read the source service page

A turnover instruction does not authorize entry into private storage, purchases, product substitution, or use of an owner's belongings unless separately agreed.

Related decisions before you schedule

Pair the stock list with explicit permission to use the right shelves. Define guest restocking

Make a failed supply-access report actionable from another location. Coordinate a remote turnover

Frequently asked questions

Can personal towels serve as emergency guest stock?

Only include them if the host has explicitly approved that use and identified the items. A supply shortage is not general permission to search or repurpose private belongings.

Should the supply closet appear in guest photos?

Use a limited internal reference for the authorized supply section. Keep access details and private storage images separate from guest-facing materials and broad property-photo collections.

Who buys missing supplies during a turnover?

Assign that responsibility before the visit. Unless a separate purchasing arrangement is confirmed, ask the provider to report the shortage and let the host arrange replenishment.
