What Avila brings
Guard-gated behind eight-foot walls in North Tampa, laid out by developer J. Robert Sierra in 1978 and built out mostly through the 1980s: 395 houses spread across 700 acres, roughly 1.8 acres apiece, so the work is oversized single-family interiors, pool decks and screened lanais, much of it fronting the 18-hole course Jack Nicklaus redesigned in 1988.
Essentially no retail or office base - the community is walled residential with two gated entrances off Lake Magdalene Boulevard and North Florida Avenue, and its only non-residential use is the Avila Golf and Country Club, whose Nicklaus-redesigned course, six tennis courts, swimming pool and fitness center serve members inside the walls.
