Tell a hauler when furniture is attached to the room

Before requesting furniture removal, tell the provider whether a piece is freestanding, attached to a wall, integrated with cabinetry, or connected to anything else. Photograph visible attachments without disturbing them. Ask which preparation or specialist work must happen before hauling, and keep disconnection, dismantling, and repairs explicit rather than assumed.

That’s the whole rule. If you’d rather not be the one auditing bottles — we bring our own, eco-friendly by default, and we follow whatever note you leave on your booking. Message us and we’ll send a price for your place.

Describe more than the front of the piece

A front-facing photograph can make fitted storage look like an ordinary movable cabinet. Include side views and any visible points where the piece meets the wall, ceiling, floor, or neighboring units, provided you can photograph them without moving the furniture. Explain what you know and label what you do not know. Do not pull a heavy piece forward to inspect it, undo an attachment for a better picture, or infer that it is loose because no fasteners are visible. If installation records or assembly instructions are available, mention them in the request. The provider needs enough information to ask the right questions before arriving, not an improvised disassembly performed to make the photograph clearer.

Separate preparation from transport

Ask whether the proposed removal includes any agreed furniture disassembly and what remains the owner's responsibility. Distinguish taking apart a movable item from altering built-in cabinetry or disconnecting a fixture. If electrical, plumbing, or other building connections are involved, have the appropriate qualified person assess and prepare them; do not treat a hauling appointment as permission to disconnect them. Record who will perform preparation and how the provider will know it is complete. Keep any required building authorization with that work. If the item cannot be prepared as expected, contact the provider before the visit so the written scope reflects what can actually be removed.

Plan for the surface left behind

Ask the responsible installer or property contact what condition may be exposed when the piece leaves, without expecting the hauler to promise a finished wall or floor. Keep patching, painting, electrical work, and other repairs on their own list. Photograph visible conditions before removal and record newly exposed areas afterward without assuming the cause of every mark. If cleaning will follow, tell the cleaning provider what remains fixed in place and whether repair work is still planned. A space emptied of furniture is a different milestone from a repaired and cleaned room. Scheduling each milestone explicitly keeps a successful haul from being judged against work that was never part of its agreement.

Published scope and the limits of this guide

The published JAS scope says: “We carry it out — nothing has to reach the curb” — Read the source service page

A hauling request does not automatically include structural alteration, fixture disconnection, wall repair, painting, or a promise that concealed surfaces will be undamaged.

Frequently asked questions

Should I remove wall attachments before requesting a quote?

Describe them first and ask what preparation is required. Do not disturb an attachment simply to simplify the request; preparation should be planned with the appropriate person and the removal provider.

Is a built-in cabinet just another furniture item?

Explain that it is built in and ask for an explicit assessment of the requested work. Do not assume ordinary haul-away includes detaching it, altering the building, or repairing the surfaces underneath.

Can cleaning start immediately after removal?

Confirm what condition remains and whether repairs or other trades still need access. Request the cleaning scope once those conditions are understood, rather than assuming an empty space is automatically ready.
