Name the four parts of the window
- Sill: the ledge below the glass. A routine wipe is different from removing heavy buildup.
- Track: the channel the window slides in. Basic wiping and detailed track cleaning are separate scopes.
- Frame: the border around the pane. Specify the surfaces and finish, especially for delicate or newly painted materials.
- Pane: the individual piece of glass. Count the reachable panes and identify interior versus exterior faces.

How window extras should appear in a quote
Ask for a pane count, the faces being cleaned, frame or track detail and the price for that agreed scope. The service type and condition affect the applicable add-on, so confirm the current price with the request. A deep clean does not automatically include glass, appliance interiors or cabinet interiors.

A practical comparison to send with your request
Hypothetical request A: wipe accessible sills and tracks during a standard clean. Request B: do the same maintenance work and clean the interior faces of eight reachable panes, with detailed cleaning on two tracks. B adds two distinct tasks; “eight windows” alone would not tell the team whether frames, tracks or exterior faces are included. These are scope examples, not past jobs or fixed prices.
Exterior glass, height and damaged finishes
JAS exterior-window requests are limited to accessible ground-floor panes and require confirmation. High-rise facades, unsafe access and specialist height work are not an ordinary house-cleaning add-on. Building permission and access restrictions should be checked before requesting exterior work.
Tell the team about construction residue, film, coatings, existing scratches or mineral etching. Cleaning a surface does not promise restoration of damaged glass. Do not move heavy furniture, remove screens or climb to prepare a window unless the agreed preparation specifically calls for safe, ordinary access.
