How long does a move-out cleaning take?

J
JAS Cleaning
FROM THE OPERATING PLAYBOOK · ES / EN

Four hours for a one-bed, one-bath; seven to ten on the longest published row. Those are the typical durations JAS publishes beside each rung of its Miami move-out table, worked by a 2–3 person team — a studio or one-bedroom typically takes a morning to an afternoon, while larger homes can run most of a day.

Almost nobody asks this out of curiosity. It’s logistics: the lease ends at a fixed hour, the movers have their window, many buildings assign the freight elevator by reservation, and the clean has to fit between the last box and the final walkthrough. Here is the published clock — and how to build the moving day around it.

The published clock, row by row

The durations are published on our move-out cleaning in Miami page, row by row; you see the price for each one in the booking flow. The time column, since that is what the question asks:

The page’s own summary line is a 5–7 hour visit with a 2–3 person team, and every row works the same 38-item empty-property checklist, closed out with a full photo archive PDF of the result. Read the column as ranges, not as an even staircase: some rows overlap, because the condition of the unit moves a move-out clock more than one extra room does.

Why it outruns a deep clean

Put the two published cards side by side and the extra hours have a reason. The deep clean page publishes a 4–6 hour visit with a 2-person team across 42 items; the move-out page publishes 5–7 hours with a team of 2–3. What the move-out adds is not more list — it’s interiors: empty cabinet, drawer, closet and shelf interiors come into scope, and interior work is hand work, slow by nature. It’s the same checklist at both ends of a lease — we’ve read it from the arriving side in what’s included in a move-in cleaning — and either way, the clock is set by the insides, not the floors.

What stretches the clock

Add-ons add minutes, not just dollars. Refrigerator and oven interiors are not in the base list: the page prices them separately — an empty refrigerator at $49, the inside of the oven at $49, the two as a bundle at $89, interior windows from $10 per pane, and trash or junk removal by separate quote. Every one of those lines is hands-on-a-surface time. Decide them when you book, not at the door: an oven negotiated on the doorstep is an hour nobody scheduled.

Condition is the second hand. The page says it in its own words: the starting price applies to a vacant property in normal condition — and “normal condition” is what keeps the time. Years of kitchen grease, hard-water buildup on glass and tile, or a unit getting its first serious clean since move-in day lands at the top of its range; one that was cleaned regularly through the lease moves down the checklist much faster.

Occupancy closes the ledger. An emptied unit cleans faster than a furnished one: with no boxes or furniture, the team reaches every cabinet interior and every foot of baseboard in a straight line. Furnished works too — the crew cleans what is safely accessible — but the same rooms take more time.

“The lease ends at a fixed hour. The clean is the one item on that day’s list that comes with a published clock.”

How to build the moving day around it

The order of operations is published on the page itself: if your movers finish in the morning, schedule the clean for after the last box is out and before your final walkthrough. In Brickell and Miami Beach towers, most condo associations require a reserved freight elevator and a firm move-out window, so the visit gets scheduled into exactly that gap — and in Kendall or Westchester houses, the garage and the patio slider add their own stretch of checklist. For the long rows of the table, take the morning arrival window: it’s the one that keeps the whole job inside a single day.

Two dates rule the calendar. Booking needs at least 24–48 hours of lead time, and end-of-month dates fill first because most leases turn over then — book as soon as your move date and walkthrough are set. And remember what the day is actually for: the person doing the walkthrough brings a list of their own, and we’ve written it up in what landlords inspect after you move out. On eligible completed visits, a CleanCheck photo report follows with a one-tap forward to your landlord — a record of the state you handed over, even though the deposit decision always rests with your landlord.

The hours are here; the dollars are next door

This post is the time column. The same published table runs $409 to $719 by home size, and what moves that number — why it prices above a deep clean, which lines are quoted separately, how condition weighs in — is in our move-out cleaning cost guide.

Quick answers

Can you clean the same day the movers leave?

Yes — that is the normal shape of the job: the clean is scheduled for after the last box is out and before your final walkthrough. Booking needs at least 24–48 hours of lead time, though, and end-of-month dates fill first because most leases turn over then, so book as soon as your move date is set.

Does a furnished home take longer than an empty one?

Yes. Empty is best: with the unit cleared, the team reaches inside every cabinet and drawer and along every baseboard without working around boxes. A furnished unit can still be cleaned — the crew works around the furniture and cleans what is safely accessible — but the same rooms take more time.

Do I have to stay for the whole visit?

No. Most people are mid-move and needed elsewhere; a key, a code, or building access is enough. On eligible completed visits a CleanCheck photo report follows, and the move-out service includes a one-tap forward to your landlord — useful when the walkthrough happens without you.

The short version

On the table we publish for Miami, a move-out clean runs 4 hours at the smallest row and as long as 7–10 at the longest, across 38 items with a 2–3 person team. Interiors are what set it apart from a deep clean, add-ons and condition decide where inside each range the visit lands, and the day works when the clean sits between the last box and the walkthrough — booked 24–48 hours ahead, earlier if your date falls at the end of a month.
