What Cibolo brings
What began as a general-store and railroad crossroads named for the buffalo — the post office fixed the name in 1883 — is now a 20.94-square-mile city on the metro's northeast edge that grew from 3,035 residents in 2000 to 32,276 in 2020, more than a tenfold jump. Most of that housing went up in the same span on freshly cut ground, so caliche grit tracks indoors, hard limestone water spots new glass and fixtures, and long dry summers keep both moving.
