What Schertz brings
Spread over 32.27 square miles across Guadalupe, Bexar and Comal counties, with Cibolo Creek dividing its Guadalupe and Bexar sides, Schertz drew its first settlers around 1843 but did most of its building after 2000, when the population climbed from 18,694 to 42,002 by 2020 — block after block of newer slab-on-grade houses where fresh-construction grit, spring live-oak pollen and hard limestone water on glass shower doors define the cleaning load.
Amazon, FedEx, UPS, Sysco and Caterpillar all run major operations here, part of roughly 8 million square feet of industrial space planned or completed along the I-35 corridor, joined by the 257,000-square-foot Schertz Station retail and dining hub — whose first tenant, Panera Bread, opened in October 2025 — plus Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City ISD and nearby Joint Base San Antonio–Randolph.
