Do cleaners work alone or in teams?

Our published residential visit is worked by a 2-person team; a cleaner working alone is usually an independent working for herself, not a company. The team finishes the same house in a fraction of the wall clock and can absorb a sick day without cancelling you. One person comes to know your home the way no pair will — and has nobody behind them. Which is better turns on one question: can your week survive a cancellation?

That’s what to ask before anyone gets a key. Our answers are published: $2M general liability, background-checked teams, and a CleanCheck photo report on eligible completed visits. Message us and we’ll send a price for your place alongside them.

The trade, stated plainly

A cleaner working alone is the maximum-consistency option. The same person walks the same rooms in the same order every visit, learns that the guest bath gets used twice a month and the primary shower every day, knows which sliding door sticks, and stops asking where things live. Nothing gets handed off, because nothing is split. The cost of that is arithmetic: one pair of hands does every task in sequence, so the visit runs as long as the whole list takes — and the day that person is sick, travelling, or has taken another job, there is no visit.

A team of two or three is the maximum-throughput option. Work runs in parallel — one person takes bathrooms and the kitchen while the other takes floors and dusting — so the same list closes in a fraction of the time. An absence becomes a scheduling problem rather than a cancellation, because a bench exists. And two people in a house check each other: a skipped baseboard is caught far more easily by whoever walks in behind you than by whoever skipped it. What you trade away is depth and headcount: more people learn your address, your door code, and where the jewellery box sits.

Where crew size shows up first: the clock

Our published Standard visit is a 3–4 hour job for a 3 BR / 2 bath home, worked by a 2-person team. That duration column and that crew bullet sit on the same page, side by side. Multiply the two published rows and the visit is six to eight person-hours of work — multiplication you can do yourself with the table open, not a rate we quote. That is the whole argument for crew size: the labor does not shrink because two people showed up; what shrinks is how long anyone is inside your house. We wrote the full clock breakdown in how long it takes professionals to clean a house.

For a studio that gap is small — the published studio row is 2 hours, and there is only so much inside it that two people can do at once. For a large home it is the difference between a morning and a whole day, and for the heavy jobs it stops being a matter of taste: the deep clean is a 4–6 hour visit with a 2-person team, and the move-out clean steps up to 5–7 hours with a 2–3 person team. Those figures already assume hands working in parallel. One person taking on either of them is looking at a full day, and some days do not fit inside the day.

The part that only matters on a bad week

Most weeks, crew size is invisible to you. The week it stops being invisible is the week somebody wakes up with a fever. A cleaner working alone who cannot come has no substitute: your Tuesday becomes next Tuesday. And if the reason you hired anyone was that this Tuesday mattered — a rental turnover, listing photos, your mother-in-law landing at MIA — the cancellation costs you more than the visit did. An operation absorbs it by re-crewing, which is exactly the structural difference we walk through in independent house cleaner or cleaning company. That does not mean the faces never change, and we publish the limit as written: we prioritize the same team when availability allows, without guaranteeing it.

What more people in your home actually costs you

This is the real price of a team, and it deserves its own paragraph. Two or three cleaners are two or three people who know your layout, your access method and your routine, instead of one. In a Miami condo it is also more names: buildings that register vendors at the front desk or require an elevator reservation are registering a crew, not a person — which is why our own residential page asks you to say at booking whether there is an elevator reservation or front-desk check-in. What a company can offer in exchange is that the vetting is institutional rather than personal: every visit is fulfilled by JAS-supplied, background-checked cleaners working the same checklist, and eligible completed visits include a CleanCheck report with customer-safe photo proof. That is a different assurance from trusting one individual — not automatically a better one, but it is written down and it survives staff turnover.

Which one fits your home

The middle path most established companies actually run

The comparison as posed — one person or a crowd — is not the one established companies offer, because it is not the one that works. What works is a small, consistent team: two people, repeatedly the same two, so that speed and familiarity stop competing. That is the shape JAS staffs Miami homes in. The Standard visit is a 2-person team on a 28-item photo-verified list, starting at $189; the deep clean keeps the 2-person team and stretches the clock to 4–6 hours, starting at $349; the move-out steps up to 2–3 people and 5–7 hours, starting at $409. Crew size scales with the scope of the job, not with the square footage of the house.

Continuity is then requested rather than assumed, and its limit is published on the same price card: “Up to 15% off HomeCare · team continuity when available.” It is part of what a recurring plan buys, not a paid extra. The full policy — and exactly what happens on a substitution week — lives in will I get the same cleaner every time?, which is the other half of this question.

One last thing crew size never moves: your invoice. The published residential rates are set by bedroom and bathroom count — $189 for a studio or a 1 BR / 1 bath, $243 for a 2 BR / 2 bath, $265 for a 3 BR / 2 bath, $319+ for a 4 BR+ home with 3 baths — and the team bullet is a service spec on that same page, not a line item added to it. Our Terms keep the order identical either way: we price before you commit — you request a quote, see it, and then request a time.

FAQ

Does a bigger crew cost more?

No. The published residential rates are set by bedroom and bathroom count — $189 for a studio or a 1 BR / 1 bath, up to $319+ for a 4 BR+ home with 3 baths — and the 2-person team is a service spec printed on the same page, not a line item added to it. Sending two people is how the published duration gets hit; it is not something you are billed for separately.

Can I ask for just one cleaner instead of a team?

Our published residential visit is staffed as a 2-person team — that is the crew the duration column is written around, so there is no one-person version of it to quote you. If what you actually want is fewer new faces rather than fewer people, the thing to ask for is team continuity: that request is published, and we prioritize the same team when availability allows without guaranteeing it.

If one of the two calls in sick, do I lose my visit?

That is the practical case for a team: an absence becomes a re-crewing problem instead of a cancellation, because there is somebody else to send. What we will not pretend is that the lineup never changes — the published policy prioritizes the same team when availability allows, without guaranteeing it. The 28-item checklist and the photo verification are identical whoever arrives, so a substitution week changes the names, not the result.
